The Adidas +F50 football boot was first introduced in 2004 by Adidas as a 50 year celebration of the German national team winning the 1954 World Cup and wearing a revolutionary football boot with removeable studs, the first time that any supplier had produced a boot with replacement studs.
The Adidas +F50 boots has changed considerably since then especially the models since 2006 when the Adidas +F50 TUNIT was launched and has continued to be the most technically advanced football boot ever made.
When the Adidas +F50.6 TUNIT was launched it was years ahead of its time. The TUNIT boot basically consists of three seperate components which comprise of the upper, chassis and studs. The upper of the Adidas +F50 TUNIT boot is normally made of either supersoft kangaroo leather or a innovative synthetic material. The upper cannot be used without both of the other two components.
The chassis is the engine of the Adidas +F50 TUNIT boot and is the component of the boot that attaches to the upper of the boot and the studs.Various chassis have been designed by Adidas over the years including lightweight, comfort and orthotic.
The studs, and there are three sorts,SG,FG and HG come with each boot and by inserting the studs through the holes in the bottom of the upper and into the chassis make the boot complete. When the studs are tightened the three components come together and the TUNIT is fully watertight.
The Adidas +F50 TUNIT was designed and developed by Matthias Beiling for the following purposes. The boot can be "tuned" for the players foot by different chassis, for the players taste by having different colour or material uppers and the three different sets of studs that come with the TUNIT enables the player to have different stud configerations and to be able to change the studs for differing weather and pitch conditions.
Since the Adidas +F50.6 there have been the +F50.7,+F50.8 and +F50.9 TUNIT models before the current F50i TUNIT was launched in June 2009.
