Robbie goes on a South African Safari!!!

Robbie Savage on Safari

What a week it has been out here in South Africa – I absolutely love it!

The World Cup action has been full on and already produced so many talking points.  It is amazing that we are still just in the group stages and England still might not progress any further!!

On a personal note I have had a busy time too commentating for BBC Radio 5 LIVE and co presenting the World Cup edition of 6-0-6, understandably there have been a few angry English fans.

On Saturday I even got the chance to co present with one of my biggest fans of all time, Neil Warnock, that guy really rates me – or something like that!!

It is an honour to be the first Welshman at the World Cup since 1958 and I would like to think I am making the most of the opportunity to be out in South Africa.

Today is actually a rest day and I just had to go on safari.  I was thinking safari with the Big Five in Africa and I had always pictured a boiling hot day watching the Lions hunting things down like a tenacious midfielder.

Sadly it wasn’t to be – it is absolutely freezing out here in South Africa, especially early in the morning and late at night.

Kruger National Park was fantastic and despite the cold we got to see some huge animals (pictures below).

I aint moving!

One of the highlights of my week was commentating on the game between Italy and New Zealand – this is what the World Cup is all about.  The minnows from New Zealand mixing it with the big guns and current champions from Italy – brilliant!!

This is the crunch week with the deciding group games, there are bound to be some casualties.  It started with a bang for me on Monday morning when I got to speak to the legend that is Chris Evans on his Breakfast show – I couldn’t believe I was actually speaking to him!  What a nice bloke.

Can England survive the battle with Slovenia?  Will France actually turn up for their game? Have Brazil peaked too early?

Lots of questions still to be answered – England will be hoping Fabio has a few answers!!
